Who Is This Book For? Time to tell ‘Em off! / Página10
Kids who pick on other kids are committing
a crime. They are robbing others
of their confidence, self-esteem,
peace of mind, and sense of security.
Plus they’re having a great time doing
it. So if you happen to be one of these
criminals and you thought it would be
funny to open up this book, keep in
mind that I’m laughing at you from the
other end. You need some serious help,
you don’t even know it, and I’m not
going to give it to you.

What I’m talking about here is not the
harmless teasing that just about everybody
does to friends or family at some
point. I’m talking about the nasty jeering
that goes on in elementary, middle,
and even high schools so often that
most adults just shrug it off as part of
growing up. Kids, too, act like it’s no
big deal. But when you are the target of
the ridicule, you know it is a very big
deal.
If your peers are making fun of you and
you’d like some help, I sympathize
with you. I understand how you feel.
I was ridiculed myself off and on
from kindergarten through ninth grade,
and sometimes I still fantasize about
smacking around those idiots, or at
least telling them off. But I’m an adult
now. It’s too late for me to stand up to
the bullies of my youth.

However, it’s not too late for you to
take back the magic of childhood and
adolescence that should be yours.
That’s why I’ve written this book for
you.

Chapter 2
Why Me? The Reasons Kids
Make Fun of You.
Being ridiculed is a very upsetting experience.
Your heart beats fast as if to
tell you your body is ready to run from
the attack. You feel hurt and angry, but
the anger is frustrating and useless be-
cause you are too afraid of what the
bullies will do if you use your anger to
defend yourself. This fear is understandable
because most likely you are
outnumbered. If you hardly know your
attackers and you had a fairly good
self-image before they started picking.
